In the Harry Potter movie series the foggy, dark, and macabre setting during the whole movie set the example and mood of what the theme of that story was all about. This setting might not give you a direct answer on what the story would be about, but it will still give you a clue that keeps you a few steps away from the theme. If the setting and the theme of the story do not match, it will keep the reader very confused. The setting can reveal what kind of characters are going to appear in the story or the next event that is going to occur, which could lead you to the theme. Therefore the settings of a story are very important.
